I finally had enough of my mangled Vista system.

I've installed 2 new 80GB SATA drives & will rebuild Vista x64 on one of them. (They're fast... :P )

This will take me back to the baseline Vista x64 (OEM).

If I then just run APUP, will I be current on all OS patches?

Or do I need to do some other manual patching first?

Thanks,
JBryanV

As long as you have SP1 already on your Vista machine. You should be alright.

Also make sure to download the other extra packs if needed - DirectX, DotNet, Extra Addons, etc.

Actually, I could never get SP1 to install, part of the problem with the mangled system.

I've successfully installed 2 new disks, reloaded Vista x64 Home Premium (w/o SP1), & run AP with everything that would load, including all the extras as you mentioned (but some patches just will not install; I'll have to follow up on them.)

I had WUP tell me what needs to be loaded & then downloaded the stand-alones at work with hi-speed internet (dialup at home). So far, so good. I've got about a dozen more patches to go.

Thanks,
BryanV
