This is my first time using the new apup, though I've used the original autopatcher for years.

Is KB944338 missing from the available patches, or am I missing something? (available for Windows 2000, XP x86/x64, 2003 x86/x64 [appears to be the same as XP x64])

This is for people who have not installed Windows Script 5.7, yet. As IE7 installs that, then users with IE7 and users with Vista shouldn't have to apply this patch.

Thanks for keeping this going. I'd be willing to bet you've saved numerous centuries of collective man hours with autopatcher!

this one is not needed, if you choose update script 5.7. the affected versions are this ones:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/...n/ms08-022.mspx

basically, VBScript 5.6 and JScript 5.6. script 5.7 has Visual Basic® Script Edition (VBScript.) Version 5.7, JScript® Version 5.7, Windows Script Components, Windows Script Host 5.7, and Windows Script Runtime Version 5.7.

Yeah, I've just read the news :) What can I say, they certainly know how to keep the crowd on their toes :D

Anyway, I have just finished integrating it into XPSP2 installation, and currently testing it, so far seems ok.

Good news is that they integrated famous KB888111 HD audio update fix into SP3 package, so now upon clean installation sound is properly detected. And although Realtek made new drivers / ver 1.91 available/ (which probably other manufacturers will do soon, if haven't done allready) i think all drivers can be installed manually without any issues.

Is it possible to open topic "AutoPatcher XP Hotfix Depot for SP3" before it is publicly available, to track all of the updates for this release.

List of updates needed for update of SP3
compiled using windows update.

1)1.1 (*latest 1.1 and 1.1 SP1 must be downloaded or updated via Windows update or elsewhere)
2)1.1SP1
3)Security update patch for 1.1SP1
4).NET 2.0 (e.g. required by Adobe acrobat reader and ATI catalyst center)
5) Security update patch for 2.0
6) NET 3.0 (optional) (manually downloaded 3.5 .NET package contains updates from 2.0-3.5)

Regarding WMP.

If you dont install WMP11, your system is ok to go.
If you install WMP11, u need to install WMP11 and 1 security update for WMP11 runtimes.

Regarding IE7,
if IE6 is used, no update is nessesary
if IE7 is used only latest IE7 is nessesary.

Other then that, u need to update root certificates, and WGA tool.

If anyone knows other updates required plz write.

yes: KB890830-V1.41. but WU is a little bit mistaken. latest cumulative update for Ie7 is still needed. please, keep in mind that sp3 final is the exact same rc2 and, since rc2, we had kitte a few cumulative updates for IE7 (despite WU don't show it)

Tanx, but isn't the cumulative update for IE7 inserted in latest downloadable IE7?

And yes Microsoft® Windows® Malicious Software Removal Tool (KB890830) is out there, but it is more optional update.

So if WU is still not configured properly is there any way to know the full range of updates needed for fully patched XP SP3?

i've saw today that there's a new date for release of MSIE. i will check later if the md5 is still the same that is included, since that date is only from 10 days ago

KB890830: it is downloaded even by automatic updates...

> is there any way to know the full range of updates needed for fully patched XP SP3?
yes, there's one way: you can go into every single KB and check if some info is already changed or do the install test. so far, all kbs included install fine

Looks like only the KB article for IE7 was only updated. They updated the article to show that SP3 is also compatible. The executable's MD5 matches the existing AP version.
