as reported by niner , seems that ms has replaced KB972636 by KB973874

that info will be checked and, if possible, the scripts will be updated as well

in deed, KB972636 was replaced by KB973874. ms should learn about v2, v3, etc to this one. a brand new kb each time, ...

well, script updated to match

ms has released today kb890830-v2.14. the bulletins with the monthly updates aren't ready yet, so we don't know yet the updates that are coming and the ones that are becoming obsolete. by other hand, there's no reason to the users keep downloading kb890830-v2.13. the xp enu and ptb was updated to match with the new version of this one, but booth releases was left unsigned until all the updates be in their proper place.

thanks for your understanding

my friends, bad news. i had 3 major crashes in my main machine today and, checking for hd failures, my main hd is failing on smart test and it doesn't even complete the full unit test from seatools. all my stuff are in this hd, including all autopatcher scripts, tools, backups, everything. i can update the scripts from my spare machine, but first i must rescue my data from this hd. for my luck, a lot of my data are motherboard drivers and i always can download it again, if needed. but don't worry, i do have an backup for the scripts in a safe location. so, except for the new updates, just bad luck and an unexpected delay.

well, right now, re-check the drive for cable issues and do all the tests again and try save my data.

sorry

I sympathise with you. Wrong time to happen.
Have you got a copy of Spinrite from www.grc.com? Not free but might save your HD this time until you replace it.

thanks, but i've recovered most of my data last night, but some parts of the work that i was doing was lost. do you know when an hd starts to crank? that was the noise that i was hearing. i was able to run a couple of tests. the smart was way off, the generic full test reports failure, etc. judging by the noise, it's something related to the hardware of my hd. checking for the warrant of that hd, i had luck: it's valid until 2012. so, i've opened an rma with seagate last night and, to avoid issues with my personal data that was into that hd, i've set active disk kill to erase all data choosing US DoD 5220-22-M. it hanged at 15% of the process due hardware failure. i was able to erase that disk with an standard one pass zeros and it ended well, but data can be recovered with this process. so, this morning i've shipped that hd to seagate rma partner from my country (UPS Brazil), with express delivery to them. i'm sure that they will send back with their standard shipping process, but at least i've saved a lot of time by doing this.

the hd that i've choose to retrieve my data it's already attached into my spare machine, but all the data that i had about this month update has gone. so, i will have to take all the download links, descriptions, detections all over again and this will take time.

well, bad luck i guess. but it wasn't a full surprise. i was having some hints that something was going wrong since a couple of weeks ago. every time that i had to burn an cd (and i burn a lot of rw media, filling it with drivers and tools that need in order to fix machines - that it's my job), my pc was rebooting. for sure i knew that something was wrong, but i wasn't expecting the hd. that device had less than 1 year. but ok, this happens.

i will resume the scripts tomorrow. today, my day was really full and i didn't had an decent night of sleep due that issue. for sure, isn't an good idea work lacking sleep and with the mind in another place

thanks

before i loose this list due another hd failure, this is the update list for the xp script to this month:
+KB971961 (js 5.7 and js 5.8)
+KB956844
+KB968816

- KB952069 (superseed by KB968816)

in the bulletins, yours may read that there's another issue, described in MS09-048, but xp doesn't have an fix for it. according to ms, this has low impact in this OS and it has an built-in firewall and enable it it's enough

well, the updates are already downloaded again. i will start to work on it later.

done. the xp enu script was updated. the js 5.7 module doesn't have an registry detection because currently i don't have any vm to test it and due my current lack of space, i can't set one. this module will load only if the user is running ie6 or 7

any issue, please report

well, i believe that it's done. sorry for my late, but i'm really working in a lot of things. this is the changelog:
# 2009-10-13 - preactions older than 08/2009 removed; ~kb890830 v3
# 2009-10-17 - +KB969878; +KB954155; +KB975025; +KB974112; +KB975254; +KB974455; +KB973525; +KB971486; +KB975467; +KB958869; -KB954600; -KB973346; -KB938464; -KB972260 (all IE); -KB928366

also, we are close to an solution for the kaspersky issue. one guy of very good will helped us in this matter and also have implemented an good and missing feature: resizable window. so, for those brave enough to try beta stuff, please try this. if you are running any kaspersky 2010 software, please go ahead, this beta shall fix your issue, without press the exit button. just save this file into apup folder and hit apupbeta.exe instead apup.exe

thanks for your patience

ps: 2 critical updates are in the .net package

Hey Cristiano,
Just downloaded the dot net hotfixes for October and Autopatcher is now reporting an unofficial or unsupported version. It may be that the scripts for this are not signed as yet.
Just to let you know and to thank you for the hard work that you put into this great project
Cheers
Bruce

This may have been better posted in the .NET Framework Addon Pack Forum

The problem may be due to a minor edit needed in the latest script - thanks for the report.

Have just tried APUP xpsp3 but got the following error message
"Subscript out of range
in prjUpdater.mdlDownloader.processDownloadQueue at line :100"

Repeated twice with the same result.

Many thanks for all the work by the way.
