no, my friend, i was replying an pm before state here that this shall be fixed now. it's ok by now because i've fixed this issue that you have pointed. the md5 file wasn't in our server and the rti file had the wrong file size.

before i forget, if you have windows live messenger 2009 you may require certain updates, like Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package ATL Security Update, that is described in here. currently, autopatcher is unable to detect windows live messenger properly and, due that, this update could be offered to everybody. also, if you have windows live messenger 2009, you may require an download of something about 10MB that is related to office 2007 sp2. do yours think that any of those fit for autopatcher? because of the way that msn 2009 is delivered, this one can't be added. so, those updates should be added or not?

I'm not sure if I would want to start adding Windows Live products. If you start with one,
what about the rest such as Windows Mail, Photo Gallery, Toolbar, Writer, and etc. I don't
really know if the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Packages need to included in AP.
This is just my own personal opinion though.

that can't be done. the windows live installer is too large and doesn't have an silent installer, except if you install this one in an machine and save the temp files. but we can't include this due microsoft restrictions. so, the best thing that can be done is add updates for things that are installed by this one. at least, there's at least one update that aims an nero 9 issue. that's right, this one installs msxml 4 sp2, that is outdated version for this one and this require an update. but oh well, this one works for other products too, including windows himself.

KB956744 and KB973039 are fixes that deal with Remote Code Execution
and Denial of Service for RDP 6.1 and lower.

KB969084 is for RDP 7.0 which was released to manufacturing August 2009, so
it looks like you won't need the above 2 fixes if you add this one.

this is a little bit more complicated, due several issues with rdp. KB969084 is an component, that isn't an "must have" update. by the other hand, KB956744 and KB973039 are booth critical, that means an mandatory update. in an optimistic point of view, everybody jumps to the new versions as soon as the new versions arrive. the other ones, just update critical things. by me, all the updates for IE6 should be wiped from the face of the earth, but no, there's those that live at least one century ago and love one of the worsts garbages that ms already have released. the removal of all updates for ie6, ie7, wmp9 and 10 could save a lot of download time, but no, we have to keep those. so, KB969084 will be added as an component, but the other 2 shall remain, at least, for now

okay.. fine with me. Are you going to add the 6.n stuff as a component too, so that one can differentiate between the two like IE7 and IE8?

the ie6 updates are always included. we didn't removed them, except the ones replaced by another ie6 update. also, every single time that there's an ie cumulative update, they have to be updated as well. but most of the users don't see those modules, because we can restrict those modules to load only if the user is still running IE6, 7 or 8. the same thing can be done for all modules, as was done to the adam update that we had this month.

to make those updates more easy to find, i've changed the download locations for the updates related to msie and wmp to certain folders. i was blamed a lot by certain users, but one of the ideas is show to the user more details about certain updates, like the ie ones

KB956744 - security update for Remote Desktop Client version 6.0 and 6.1

KB973039 - vulnerability in Active Directory directory service, Active Directory Application Mode (ADAM), and Active Directory Lightweight Directory Service (AD LDS)

doesn't look as booth can be replaced for KB969084. i was thinking about not remove those, but the user must learn that there's certain updates that can fix things easily than applying only the critical updates. so, goodbye KB956744. KB969084 was added in components, as critical, due the replacement of an critical update

I think the download hash check for KB969084 is incorrect. The hash I have for it is:

Under [SystemComponents] you have added

ComponentFile=%windir\ADAM\adamdsa.dll
ComponentVersion=ANY

Can you please explain what effect these entries have as to whether the fix appears in AP's selection list or not.

oh, that... it works as an condition to show that module. if you have the file adamdsa.dll into the specified windows folder, the module will be showed as required to be installed. if not, then the module will remain hidden. that is done when the update requires an specific component to be present, like this one. otherwise, you could try install this time several times, but never succeed, due the update restriction

just an head's up: in a clean install of windows xp, automatic updates may download KB967715, that was replaced by KB971029. that it's an flaw from automatic updates, not ours

i love ms, yours don't? they did an silent update into KB943729. the script will be updated to match shortly

edit: script updated. just one warning: the registry detection wasn't changed, just the .cat, the file size, md5, file name, release date...
