Cristiano, did you save the latest xp_sp3_enu script in one of those strange formats, ASCII or...? I was trying to open the script in Firefox and it wanted to find another application and would not open normally. I had to download and open the script in Notepad++, those strange characters are present again.

If you look at the screenshot you will notice the dark black mark on US-KB979402 - even after highlighting the update you can see the black behind the highlight...

... not a big deal just wondering :)

Btw, I have no idea why the forum software made the screenshot so large.

no, i only edit the modules with the standard notepad. but to be on safe side, i've downloaded those scripts, opened with notepad, saved again and then re-uploaded. the weird thing is that i didn't saw that as showed in your image :huh:

Weird indeed!

The original script (the one I saved to my AutoPatcher folder) is opened in Notepad++ (top image) - you can see the 'US' has a black background - see red arrow.

The bottom image is the latest script you uploaded, I opened it in Notepad (Windows) - it has a strange character (looks like a box) to the left of the dash, this is in place of the blackened 'US' background - see red underline.

This is not a big deal I just find it very interesting and I do believe it is the way Notepad is saving the script, I just wish I knew what format. Who knows, maybe this is standard for text files :blink:

too bizarre. that US-KB979402 in the first image isn't even present, nor the weird character in the 2nd one. as an test, i've deleted that -KB979402 entry in the log and then typed it again: +KB2378111; -KB979402; +KB2360131;

hope that this works

A small script edit is needed - no resigning :) The hash for 890830 .apm is incorrect - its the same as the .7z hash, this is correct.

Item=KB890830 x86 Update module

DetectFile=autopatcher:\modules\Critical\KB890830_x86_glb.apm
DetectHash=A526B88DDEE86D5BFE4F99FF947B4B16

DownloadTo=autopatcher:\temp_bin\windows_mrt_x86.7z
ExpectedSize=1782

KB2443105 was included and mentioned in the log. KB2443685 will be included later. MS10-090 is about KB2416400, that is already included

The security update for Windows media encoder 9, KB 2447961 was installed on my PC (XP pro SP3) via Microsoft update on Tuesday.

Just ran apup (14 December update) for XP, which included that update, but autopatcher shows it (under critical/Windows media player) in black (with the box checked), as if it were not installed.

I also don't think it should come under WMP, since the encoder is a separate installation that not everyone may have (though I do).

In case you can look for its installation at the right place in the registry, there are entries for it at

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Updates\Windows Media Encoder\KB2447961_WM9L

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Updates\Windows Media Encoder\SP0\KB2447961_WM9L

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\KB2447961_WM9L

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\HotFix\KB2447961_WM9L

interesting. that shouldn't happen, because the module was checking by cat file:
FilePath=windows:\system32\CatRoot\{F750E6C3-38EE-11D1-85E5-00C04FC295EE}
FileName=KB2447961.CAT
FileVersion=ANY
FileMD5=ANY

if that md5 is present, then it should detect properly, since this is the only one .cat file that is included in this update. i don't have in any computer the component that is affected by the issue and require that update. due that, i'm unable to take an proper registry file for this one. due that, i've added this detection, based on the data reported:
[DetectionRegistry]
RegistryPath=HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\KB2447961_WM9L
KeyName=Type
KeyValue=Update

hope that this fix the issue

also, the changelog:
# 2010-12-15: +KB2443685; -KB2158563; ~detection of KB2447961

Odd because
C:\WINDOWS\system32\CatRoot\{F750E6C3-38EE-11D1-85E5-00C04FC295EE}\KB2447961.cat

was (is) present.

Unfortunately the 15 December update gave 'failed verification of one or more files' message (ran apup 3 times) and Autopatcher is now unofficial with Windows XP SP3 English shown as false.

Yes, I forgot to leave out KB2443105. My understanding about KB2467659 is that it needs to be applied ontop of MS10-090 (KB2416400), otherwise MU will report KB2416400 as not being installed. See KB for more information.

great... so the script has to be edited anyway... no problem, set another date for this one shall fix the problem, since autopatcher deploys the older updates first

done. i don't have in this computer an md5 tool, so the md5 checksum for the whole release wasn't updated. yours wanna know why ms said that you must run WU? KB2467659 was released before KB2416400... how can you fix an thing that isn't broken yet? due that, i've set KB2467659 release date as today, to be deployed after KB2416400

any issues, please report
