APUP1 still downloads the old 4.3 version of MRT (KB890830) instead of 4.4. The same goes for the x86 and x84 .apm files.

Is anyone planning on fixing this?

I deleted the files and the apms and reran APUP v1 only checking Autopatcher Common Modules and I'm still getting old files.

XP Pro w/SP3 > just ran APUP and MRT was correct. For now will assume 64-bit is also correct.


Just booted to XP Pro x64 w/SP2 > MRT is correct here too.

Also;

Stand Alone > Microsoft Security > Windows Defender v1.1.1593.21 (x64)

Thanks Viroman. It is fixed now. After running AP to verify my system I see some errors that should be corrected before the next patch Tuesday. I will report them in a separate post..

No need to add this hotfix. All that is needed is an additional detection in the WindowsXP-KB2506212-x86-ENU.apm.
Add the 3 lines I mentioned following the first reg detection and this will detect either of the fixes. This way, AP
will show KB2506212 as installed even if you only have the hotfix installed.I would avoid adding the actual hotfixes to AP.

side note... the windows update agent link you gave me was version 7.4.7600.243. While it is higher then the old one 7.4.7600.229 it doesn't come close to 7.6.7600.243. Did you have a typo and instead of .4 you put .6?

I believe Microsoft named the link incorrectly. If you unpack the update, the files contained therein are 7.6.7600.243 versions

Something else is terriblly wrong. When I run AP the screen is messed up.
The download must not be going correctly or the xp script is messed up..

I found this directory with a bunch of 0-byte apm files on my system after running APUP

I deleted it and the AP screen has returned to normal, but no updated .apm files found.

hmm... well I did 7zip it differently then normal.. I will do a 7za test on it to see if the dos version can't unzip it.

for the directory with lots of 0 size files... its the fact that we are using such an old 7za version. I will update apup(1)'s download.

APUP download updated:
7za 4.65 -> 9.20
Curl ? -> 7.27 (the external program that apup uses to download with)

Download the new(er) AutoPatcher Updater 1.3.0.1(UPDATED) It will update your 7za and curl file(didn't need to update this but, what ever. I checked and it doesn't mess anything up).

There is something wrong, I think, with common modules.

Using Apup2 on XP pro SP3. I have two sets, so that if something goes wrong with one after an update I still have the other, and can also compare contents and files to find changes.

Both sets were official before updating one set for XP SP3 and common modules today. Now Autopatcher for that set is unofficial. Autopatcher Common Modules (February 7) is False whereas before the update (the other set) Common Modules (December 13) shows True.

After updating, Autopatcher also shows in critical, KB2618451 and KB2620712 as not installed (black with a checkmark) whereas before this update it showed both those as installed (blue, no checkmark), which is correct. Also, whereas before modules\critical had 260 files in 124 folders, now there are 259 files in 120 folders.

There may be other discrepancies, but those are what I've found.

PS: Tried with another copy of the previous official set, this time updating just XP SP3. Autopatcher shows unofficial, but all sets show true. KB2618451 and KB2620712 again show as not installed, and the number of files and folders in modules\criical is also reduced as above.

So also something not quite right with the XP sp3.

OK... In main Critical folder, XP release has;

• 101 .apm files (I've excluded __MSIE_critical and __WMP_critical files)
  
• 101 sub-folders (I've excluded __MSIE_critical and __WMP_critical folders)
  
• 103 files in sub-folders (I've excluded __MSIE_critical and __WMP_critical folders): there are 3 files in KB968389 sub-folder. These files are needed to detection

In __MSIE_critical sub-folder there are:

• 9 .apm files
  
• 9 sub-folders
  
• 9 files in sub-folders

In __WMP_critical sub-folder there are:

• 17 .apm files: KB954155, KB973540, KB975558, KB978695 and KB2378111 hotfixes have 3 .apm file (one for WMP9, one for WMP10 and one for WMP11) but only one .exe file
  
• 7 sub-folders
  
• 7 files in sub-folders

So... In __WMP_critical sub-folder there are 7 distinct hotfixes.

This is my check result... and I've not found any issue.
I'm analyzing the issues reported for KB2618451 and KB2620712.
