Hi Alex
You must run APUP again, but make sure you run it in the same folder.
Do not delete any files or folders yourself and do not change the folder that APUP runs in.
APUP will check every file that has already been downloaded, and will not download again any file that has already been successfully downloaded.
If you still have errors, run APUP again (still in the same folder) with the /log option (as in C:>apup /log) and post the apup.log file here.

The log file (apup.log) will only appear if you have run APUP from the command prompt (with apup.exe /log), or you have created and edited a shortcut to apup.exe which includes "apup.exe /log" in it.
What is the exact name of the folder that you have apup.exe in?

no. you need update your system to sp3 first. but if your system is crashing, may be an good idea test for memory failures, with some tool like this one:
http://www.memtest.org/#downiso
of course, your pc may have an gremlin inside too
