I keep getting a message that the files will not verify. Does anybody have any idea why this might be?

run apup like this -> apup.exe /log

Check the log for the errant files, and I would check the associated script
to see if by chance the script may have a bad hash listed.

To keep things simple I would run apup checking only the problem release...ie: XP SP3,
also, verify the XP SP3 script has the correct hashes listed for the problem files in the
log file, assuming your problem is a simple hash error.

You can view the script using notepad. The "log" and "script" will be in the main autopatcher
folder. If you continue to have problems just post the relevant info from the log file and someone
around here will get you fixed up.

Two more things. First, I cannot get apup to run in a 64bit OS. Normal?
So, I fired up vmware and ran apup from an XP x86 install. Think this might be part of the problem?

I have the log file. It is very long.
The only thing I saw that might be causing a problem is "404 file not found" on a couple of files it was trying to download.
I also get a "Runtime error '0' "
One other thing. I am rinning apup from XPx86 but am trying to get the patches for Server 2003 x64.

Is this any help?

Downloading from XP, but getting patches for Server 2003 is not a problem. APUP can do this easily.

"404" errors will certainly be the cause of your problem.

If you find "404" error(s), please always let us know the name(s) of the file(s) that are not found.

Explanation: A "404" error is a standard error given by a server if APUP asks for a file that does not exist. With APUP this usually happens if Microsoft updates a file and removes the old file from its server. The error will continue until the APUP script is updated.

Cleared all patches and ran APUP again. Downloaded everything just fine. Weird.

Thanks for letting us know that your problem is now solved. We always appreciate feedback.

However, perhaps it's not so wierd because in the last two-three weeks (since your last post) Erik has updated all of the releases. Updating a release usually resolves all "404" errors.

got the crash under x64 vista with sp1 too. with the new 1.05 i have done a clear installation and delete the old autopatcher folder:

Thank you for posting the log-file. I am not sure what is going on here because you seem to have a problem with a file that has not changed recently.

The file windows_tweaks.apm exists on the server, has a size of 1630 bytes as expected by APUP and has not changed since February.

As a workaround, could you please manually download:
http://www.autopatch...dows_tweaks.apm

Check that the size is 1630 bytes and move it to the folder
C:\Documents and Settings\Isaac\Desktop\apup\modules\

The file windows_tweaks.apm is a simple text file, so if you use Internet Explorer or Firefox (or any other browser) to download, then the file may appear on-screen first, so you must then save the file.

Secondly, your log-file shows that APUP also downloaded a Microsoft Update file.
So, when you say:

Hi hanschke

Thank you for posting the log-file. Your problem is already known. There is a mistake in AutoPatcher's security information for Vista 64-bit.

Until this mistake is corrected, APUP will show the same error. Meanwhile, you can safely use AutoPatcher to install updates, but it will show "Unofficial" at the top of the screen.
