Have downloaded apup.zip extracted and run apup.exe it seems to have loaded all the files except autopatcher.exe see log below
anyone have any ideas?

Thanks for posting the log file with your first post. Saves us having to ask for it, saves time!
You have avoided the common pitfalls in choosing a folder -- good.
Your log file shows a normal first download and APUP has downloaded all the right files to unzip -- also good.

This might seem an odd thing to do, but could you please run APUP a second time, same /log option, same folder, same selections and post the second log file.

Explanation: During the second run APUP will recheck all the files, including all those that should have been unzipped at the end of the first run.

I've looked at the second log file which is identical to the first. That means that none of the downloaded files are being unzipped and installed.

(1) What folders have been created under your C:\autopatcher folder?
The log file shows that you have:
[indent]apup_bin[/indent]
Do you also have the following three?
[indent]bin
translations
win9xnt[/indent]
(2) What version of Windows are you running?
What filesystem are you using?
If you are running a Professional/Business version are you running as an Administrator or as a standard user?

(3)If your filesystem is NTFS can you check that you have write permission in the C:\autopatcher folder and subfolders.
(To check this: Right-click on the folder icon > Properties > Security)

(4) Do you have an Anti-Virus program installed?
If so, is it blocking the file UZ.EXE from running?

Why so many questions? -- Because what should be happening is that APUP downloads a set of .ZIP files, which are then unzipped by UZ.EXE. Something on your system is either preventing the files from being saved or preventing UZ.EXE from running.
