Way to go Erik!
Remember a couple of years ago when it took two to three weeks?
Plus, it is taking a couple of days for some of the updates to actually be available from Microsoft!
*cough* messenger 5.1 *cough*.
Never mind what the download page says, it's the actual file that counts.
Somewhere between Redmond and London the caches are not being updated quick enough.

Wow, I just came back and read this thread. How rude.
For your information, because of your artificial delay in delivering the XP update, I grabbed the patches myself immediately after posting my reply that XP should be favored because of the quantity of people using it. Hence, I am actually "doing the packs" myself. AutoPatcher is no longer useful to me because of these delays, freezing up, missing packages, improper installs, dependancy problems, checksum errors, and so on. Consistently, these past few months, I've been having to go get the damn updates myself and APUP has done me no favors. So, go ahead and feel free to disrespect someone providing their (more than valid) opinion. I didn't order you to do it in a specific order, I said, "I think... because.." And, I don't deserve this vitriolic response.
And, I'd like to point out, I do respect the amount of work that goes into these releases, its a phenomenal amount to put this all together. My suggestion was stated merely observing the fact that many Vista users have upgraded to XP, and many never upgraded from XP to Vista in the first place. You do the security of the entire world a disfavor by releasing the patches late for the majority, they would be better off leaving their Windows Update on. I always thought APUP was about making it easier and faster to get the updates.
I'm sorry that because you use Vista yourself, you decide the fate of all your XP users. Not me, sorry, I'm not going to let you leave a hole in my defenses. Good day!
p.s. My only regret is not responding to this earlier, if I had known I would have handed you a dishful sooner. I'm removing APUP, goodbye.

Being serious now: I work pretty darn hard on these releases which I usually get them out a day or two after patch Tuesday. This last patch cycle included over 50+ updates. The delays before the releases was due to the amount of shared updates that needed to be synched up with all English releases which the last patch cycle had a couple. After completing these modules, deleting the old modules, and then deploying the shared modules to every single release: Windows 2000, Server '03, XP, Vista, and Server '08 for both X86 AND X64 . After all of this, then I can then start working on the remaining patches for each individual release. There was only a two day wait between completing Vista and XP releases. For the amount of releases plus trying to have a personal life, two days is pretty darn good if you ask me
I apologize if you strongly believe that XP should be given priority. I personally like XP more than Vista but I currently have Vista as my main operating system. For this reason, it's easier for me to complete the Vista releases first before preceding to any other release that I keep in my virtual environment. That is a virtual environment for each and every Microsoft operating system.
You and I are both humans which we have the God given right to differ in opinion. It's how you express your opinion that counts. All I'm going to say is that I don't appreciate your assumptions that you made about me in your comments.
Have a good day.
