im getting an error while trying to run the apup.exe :



and after pressing ok & next :



any solution for that ?

Hi reloop

Thanks for the pictures. It seems that APUP has either a language problem or a write permissions problem.

Could you please run apup again with the log option (as in apup /log) and post the log file here.
This will give me additional information that I need.

Thank you for posting your log-file.

Your problem is a known language conflict.
APUP will not function properly and will not download files without errors if your Language for non-Unicode programs is set to Hebrew (or any language which reads right-to-left).

APUP can only write Hebrew in the log-file and not on-screen. I cannot read Hebrew, but the word beginning with Samekh(?) looks like it is the date to me. The dates shown in your screenshot are random Greek characters, not correct Greek.

To resolve your problem you will need to reset the Language for non-Unicode programs to English.
(Any English will work, including English (United States) and English (United Kingdom) )

Thanks james , chenged it all to english but keep getting the same errors , heres the log file :

I must add that apup runs very well at my xp system wich is much the same as the 2000 system mentioned here.

It seems you have both a language problem and a permission problem.

Can you confirm for me please where your Windows System files are stored.

Are they at C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32?
Or are they somewhere else? If so, where are they?

If they are, are you running APUP with Administrative privileges and with read/write permission to the SYSTEM32 folder?

windows system files are at C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32 and im using an administrator acount with full Administrative privileges

I am not sure what to suggest next as APUP seems to be unable to find your SYSTEM32 folder.

If it is 07-Sep-08 at 21:38 then it should be 327,680 bytes exactly.

That's the one I have running on a test Windows 2000 system and everything works fine.

The only difference is that my test system is a client (Windows 2000 Professional) but yours is showing as Server. That should make no difference if all folder permissions are set correctly.

It is 327,680 bytes , and mine is 2000 server and i hope all folder permissions are set correctly.
In addition i have set to everyone full controll to the system32 folder and still the same.

Thanks for the reply.

The dialog box, in your first post, if I put it in simple English, tells me:
Path not found C:\WINNT\system32

The second message, again in simple English, says APUP cannot use C:\WINNT\system32 because it cannot find it.

If that path exists, I cannot determine why APUP works on other computers running Windows 2000 but not on yours.

I don't know what to suggest next.
