You aren't the only one with this problem using apup 1.0.3. When I click next it just sits there. I have dotnet 3 installed and patched. My home network is patched by WSUS if that is any consolation.

I have deleted the release list to ensure that it downloads the latest version.
im getting a weird problem with the updater just downloading the script files and NO Zero modules (and then claims Finished!!)
thoughts??

I now have everything except the beta. This is what happens when I try to download it...

@Wyvern - Currently this means that you have everything updated to the fullest and that there aren't anymore updates.

But this also happened at the start of the downloads until I downloaded the individual packages

Just curious, why was .NET 3.0 not included in all the downloads?

dotnet 3 isn't needed since it's included within dotnet 3.5. More specifically, dotnet 3.5 includes both dotnet 2 sp1 and 3 sp1 =)

Though if you download the W2K script, you will be given dotnet 2 sp1 since 3.5 isn't compatible with W2K

Thanks. I'm working on a nLite XP build so that information is quite useful. Not sure if my CD can hold .NET 3.5.

Now if only they'd put the proxy feature in the beta so I could do work at work. (Hint) ;)

In the next day or two, I'll be taking dotnet 3 out of the main pack and putting it in an addon. As for the proxy feature, that's going to need to be the job for the developers. I'm sure though that it's being looked into.

Yup, .NET should be put as an add-on.
Though a few may argue it shouldn't be excluded since most apps nowadays need it and that AutoPatcher isn't exactly designed for the average users, .NET is still not the "basic package" of Windows and thus should be optional.

@AP devs
Regarding proxy feature, could you just set apup.exe to read the proxy info off the Internet Settings of Windows?
So there won't be a need to put up an extra UI or extra config files for the sake of having a proxy setting...

Only two things.

Just did a fresh update of the Autopatcher. Got stuck several times. But after restarting it just resumed from where it got stuck, no problem.

Looks like Windows Live Messanger isn't included with the updates. I can only see windows messanger 5.1
Any chance of adding windows live messanger to the next updates downloaded?

Also where has the "Spell checker for Internet Explorer" gone from the updates. And all the other wonderfull Addons that used to come with Autopatcher?

looks like the last time we saw the spellchecker was in the "AutoPatcher_Extras_Jul07_x86_ENU_Addon.exe" update. Now the only addons that are supplied are the Macromedia shockwave and flash installers.

A few others I miss like the Sun Java Runtime updates and the Remove Messanger 4.7 modules and many others should also be reincluded.

@g12345567
Try downloading from <a href="http://www.autopatcher.com/apengine/apup.zip" target="_blank">http://www.autopatcher.com/apengine/apup.zip</a> instead from what Renato posted in the first post of this thread; it's the newer 1.0.3.

Anyway, if you have AP Aug '07 Core, just delete the whole AP folder and then reinstall it again.
After that, unzip the newer 1.0.3 and make sure apup.exe stays in the same directory as autopatcher.exe.

[edit]
Whoops; late. =b

Well, Live Messenger is should be an add-on, so maybe Erik can write up the script for it.
Regarding spell checker, I really have no idea.

As of right now, we don't have the ability to add Live Messenger to apup since Microsoft uses Windows Live Installer which downloads Live Messenger's MSI for you. Since Live Messenger is now updated though Microsoft Update, I was able to locate the URL from windowsupdate.log but in order to extract MSNMSGS.MSI from the executable you require a resource editor like XN Resource Editor. I'm going to keep on looking into this in the next week or two so hopefully I'll have some good news then.

As for the other updates, I'm one guy handeling five releases (including the soon to be 2003 x86 and Vista to apup) I'm working on the addons right now which you will see a couple here and there every now and then suddenly appear through apup :P

Ah, right; haven't noticed that.
No wonder the installer size suddenly shrunk the last time I d/l-ed it from filehippo.com.
(...I'm on of those types that d/l something just for the sake of getting up-to-date but never bother to install anything...)

Anyway, if Silverlight (sp?) comes out of its beta phase, would that affect apup.exe in terms of d/l-ing files (such as the .NET Framework or Windows Defender) directly from MS servers?

Download link now points to the same file that APUP script (and it's v1.0.3).

Did fine until I decided to 'freshen up' by downloading this version. Delete all previous files except Modules and Translations folders. I unzip the package (fine), run apup.exe (no problem either), check the top three XP items and the DirectX addon. Click next. Fetched 1005 bytes of Windows_addons_xp_x86_enu.zip then stops with "One or more files failed verifiication. Would you like to continue at your own risk?" If I click no, I can then Exit of Finsih and while the download doesn't go any further, the program does close properly. If I click Yes, a dialog box pops up with the title "uz" error message is "Unkown header". The only button is, "OK". Clicking it brings up the same box endlessly. Have to kill off task (taskmgr.exe) uz.exe.

Tried deleting all .script files again and also deleting the AddOns (subfolder and contents). When it gets to fetching windows_addons.apm, same error with uz pop up. I hope this is enough information. The only apup.exe item needing to be check to see the error is AutoPatcher for Windows XP (x86) - Beta v3.3

Also, seriously - thanks to all of you who are doing such an incredible job for so many of us. Your work has saved all of us so many hours. I am grateful.

I thought I corrected these issues last night... cry.... I'll take a look at the script a bit later to find out what is going on. It's going to be a couple of hours though so you hang in there.

I assure you I can wait more than a few hours for the awesome work you guys do. Since you responded so quick, may I be greedy enough to ask, when will the MS updates released today be integrated/available from apup?

After you answer that, take the night off. These computer addictions can do a job on you. I know! Workaholics Anonymous. (Whoops - I just told you. I guess I'm not "anonymous" any more.)

p.s. - If there's anything I can e-mail you or do otherwise to make your script hunting easier on this problem, just let me know.

Hi... I downloaded the latest version of apup.exe (v1.0.3), it's working fine for me now... that is to say, it's downloading the updates and everything, but the trouble I'm having is that every so often the download stops, and I have to restart apup.exe... I'm not really sure why it's happening, and since I haven't updated windows for a long time, the amount to be downloaded is huge anyways... so these freezes are really making it extra slow. Any ideas how to work around that...?
