kb932471 - it's not needed. this one seems to be an fail from WU, because this one will fail to install if you have .net 3.5

KB925876 - this one is present at windows components. also just critical updates are selected by default, if you wish, this one can be manually selected.

KB920342 - this one is present at non critical. also just critical updates are selected by default, if you wish, this one can be manually selected.

KB909520 - this one is present at non critical. also just critical updates are selected by default, if you wish, this one can be manually selected.

are you sure that you have the latest version of AP? you may just run apup again in your autopatcher folder, that it will check if something is missing and will fix it for you. but still, except for the critical update, all others need to be manually selected

No matter what I do the downloading keeps stopping, random points in random files. Is the software just to early in developement?

Johnb, to solve the issue with the wga modules, just run english or your language script again. if this not fix it, you may download the missing parent module from http://www.autopatch...windows_wga.apm and save it at modules folder. this shall fix the issue.

that's why autopatcher is still in beta version. it's an public beta, but still an beta version. there's a few things that you may do in order to have an better experience when downloading. please, try this:
- release your bandwith (this means no torrent, emule, etc when downloading);
- leave your machine alone (this means don't do heavy tasks when downloading. apup may hangs at md5 checks if you are running heavy tasks)

Get a program that can proxify apup's connection such as Proxifier.
Just get the Portable version (which is free) and it should do just fine.
I haven't tested it though but you can try it out for yourself and see if it works. =)

You can just use apup to update your previous AP "installation".
Please note that since AP's installation doesn't create/use any registry keys, you can use apup to update it and then copy the whole folder to a flash disk and then run it on any PC.

Why would you want to create a self-extracting .exe, btw?

OK. Have used the previous/"old" autopatcher on this pc.

Started in emty dir with only apup.exe

Now i have a lot of file added in the once empty dir.

Has the update already happend to the win installation, and i am left with the files to also install on another pc?

As i type this, apup.exe (i clicked on it again) is downloading anothe 160MB of updates to said dir...

Hi GreenTree - maybe I can help...

I'll assume you are using Windows XP x86 English...

Download -> "AutoPatcher_WinXP_Aug07_x86_ENU_Core.exe" -> (Your OS & Language version)
Download -> "apup.zip"

Then...

"Run" the Autopatcher self extracting exe file to extract the contents to a location of your choice.

"Unzip" the contents of the "apup.zip" file to the "SAME" folder you extracted the AutoPatcher file above.

Now...

In your "New" Autopatcher folder you will have two important files - both exe files.

(1) autopatcher.exe and (2) "apup.exe"

When you want to update your PC you will run autopatcher.exe.

When you want to collect "New" updates and add them to your existing Autopatcher folder, or have old outdated
files removed, (the apup scripts perform many tasks) you will Run "apup.exe".

When "apup.exe" is "Run", it will scan your Autopatcher folder, determine what tasks need to to be done, and then
will begin "Updating" your Autopatcher program with the "Latest" files...


So...

To (update your PC), run "autopatcher.exe", agree to the terms (there are 2 check boxes) and then the AutoPatcher
interface pops up and you will see all the updates listed by category.

The rest is pretty self-explanatory.

To (update Autopatcher), run apup.exe, check the appropriate boxes for the programs you want to update, ie:
Office 2003 or Windows XP x86 etc

-> Remember to "UNCHECK" the items (in the apup window) you don't want or you will be downloading many
un-needed updates.

do not do that yet apup en script doesn't to the changes needed to do this version compatible yet. so, at the end, you will have a couple of not needed anymore updates and a few brunch that will not install anymore due some another update currently, only pt-pt and pt-br have this feature

Thanks for the info.

I have the apup.exe files that downloaded on a USB/notebook drive.

Will stick it in another WinXP box without internet connection, and see what it does...

AutoPatcher doesn't need an Internet connection; only apup does.

This happened to me too, but I found a solution:

- When the downloading stops, write down the name of the file it is trying to fetch (for example: "WindowsXP-KB923810-x86-ENU.exe"). Then exit the apup.exe module.
- Open the .script files (there are in the folder where apup.exe is) in Notepad one by one and search for the text with the filename. In my example, the text will be found in the file "autopatcher_xp_x86_enu.script". The text region of the file will pe something like this:

- Copy the URL (mine is "http://download.microsoft.com/download/6/1/c/61cb7c72-4d7a-4b20-8638-7d59bba31781/WindowsXP-KB923810-x86-ENU.exe") and paste it in your internet browser or download manager. Save the file to the path found in the text (mine "\modules\Critical\KB923810_xp_x86_enu.apm_files\").
- Reopen apup.exe and restart the update fetch process. It will continue with the rest of the updates and it will skip the ones that were downloaded before.
- Repeat the process for every problem file.
