Ok, here it is the new version that Antonis released. You may download it here.
[...]
Edit 7: Now the downloaded file is the same as the one downloaded via APUP (right now v1.0.3). To check if you have the latest version, the details are: size - 722872 bytes, MD5 hash - B9BBB2390898FF247965C114DBA911D2.
@Renato,

Based solely on the info in your first post on this thread, it's not clear whether the MD5 hash applies to apup.exe or autopatcher.exe. And the referenced file size (~723 KB) doesn't match either executable.

I've downloaded apup.zip several times and also used AutoPatcher Updater from that archive to update Autopatcher Engine several times. In every case the files show the following versions, sizes, and MD5 hashes (via HashTab v2.0.8):

Filename File version	Bytes MD5

apup.exe 1.0.0.3 167,936	FB9210DDC9A06AC1B4230CE200C21AFA
autopatcher.exe	5.6.0.81 569,344	50F4C5CE53CE91270B78B10678387333
Can you please clarify the file size and MD5 references on this post? Thanks...

Edited to add: APUP v1.0.3 works great! :)

not a big deal but i think the link to download IESpell tool in the addon script is broken.
thanks for this great tool. i have downloaded all the windows updates and am now patching my windows. Works brilliantly.

dnt know if this is a bug too but the tweak ui doesnt seem to work when i use the autopatcher... i had to go into the folder n install it manually n rebuild the icon for it....

APUP window is resizable, contents are not.

Extras Addon pack has a future date.

The resizing issue has been reported a while ago, but minor UI issues are not high on the to-do list for Antonis.

@markinblue - The link for IESpell seems to be working okay for me. Could you try it again to see what happens? As for TweakUI, this is something I'm looking into as we speak. I'll see what I can do

I'm sure this has been mentioned earlier (and likely many times) but I'd very much like to see APUP save my selections, so that I don't have to waste time reselecting what I want/need to download each time I execute the application.

I agree that minor GUI issues can easily take a back seat, however I feel that this is something more of an operational issue, as we're trying APUP to ELIMINATE redundancies (in the case of techs, system builders, etc.) and this is one redundancy which should be taken care of.

Personally, I still experience multiple run requirements, without any possible way to know if the program is operating at all, and I still need to repeatedly execute the application in order to get a completed run. I'm sure that this willl eventualy be taken care of, so while it's annoying, I understand more pressing issues are at play...but a little "current operation" window or display wouldn't hurt at all, as at least then the user would know that the software was actually still operating, and not hopelessly locked. After 5-10 minutes of "apparrent inactivity", there's no longer any question of crash vs. operation, but it would be far nicer to not have to have a smoke, go put the kettle on, etc., while you wait to see if it's crashed or not.

I've also noticed that even though APUP does finish, the data displayed isn't updated upon completion. This also could be considered a "minor GUI issue" which isn't high on the priority scale, but it should be addressed "eventually on the dot, and not a second later."

Generally: Keep hackin' folks...it'll get there eventually...and we already KNOW it'll be working at least three years before SP3 finally comes out. ;)

My bad...sorry for opening my mouth.

That's what I get for trying to be helpful. I guess I should leave things to the pros.

au contrare; your very good. I can't thank you enough. I have been reading through the forums for over 3 hours looking for a clear, concise and thorough step-by-step of how to use AP and APUP. Zip, zero, nada until I found your post to GREENTREE. So what if a bit of detail was before its time; it still congealed the bits and pieces of partial answers into one coherent overview. Exactly what I needed to understand the big picture. Frankly, I was right on the verge of writing this package off as just another great idea but for geeks only (absolutely not meant as an insult, just descriptive, cause I wish I was one, but too dumb). I wish you would post on some other software forums that I'm struggling with.

Project guys:

So there's no misunderstanding. Thank you very much for what you are doing. I appreciate your very hard work. I especially admire that you are doing it gratis. I am really excited to have found this, and I can't wait to put it to use. I love the idea of having control over my system back in my hands. Although I have purchased licenses to use Windows 3 3.1 95 98 XP, I don't recall ever granting MS a license to take over.

For goodness sake, take guitar mike's post, rename it Tutorial, or Quick start or whatever and put it on top of the forum list. If this kind of explanation of the process exists somewhere else in the forums, then I plead guilty to being a dummy. But trust me it ain't easy to find. I have to believe that a great deal of your motivation is satisfaction of having your brainchild in wide use. Remember KISS. Keep it simple. mike did that. I said "By Golly this is a no brainer" Lots and lots of others would, too.

I own a car because I want to go to work, home, store, etc; not because I wanted to learn how to rebuild and bore and stroke the engine.
I own a computer because I want it to do things; not to learn how it does things

Thank you for a program that will make it easier for me to do things.

@Howard - I have a "how-to-guide" in the works to hopefully make all of this simpler. I'm going to shoot for after patch Tuesday's updates.

@ElectroPig - Thanks for the comments. I'm not a programer myself but I'm sure he will take a look into this.

That's good news, thanx. Just make it easy to find. A lot of folks would have given up in frustration. I had just taken the hardheaded approach that I wasn't going to be beaten by another program, even if I had to read every post in every thread.

Thank you again. Keep up the good fight.

I'm happy. My box is up-to-date. Programs are simple to use. APUP hung about half a dozen times and had to be restarted. So what; how much BS would I have had to endure at MS. Besides, I'm guessing that now I'll only be downloading monthly patches, that won't be much of an issue, anyway.

Thanx for a great solution.

Can we get an ETA on the next rev of autopatcher??

I have found that a set of UNIX tools is available for Windows (it looks like a full set md5sum and wget and unzip are all present)

I download the latest release of the Beta (should be 1.0.3)
After downloading I unpack it to C:\
Start apup.exe and select all English downloads for all type of 32-bit MS OS.
After many time that I try and give the error showed below I surrendered ;(

What means
Run-Time Error '0'

I read the solutions here, but no one have the exact solution.
I try to download only one pack (after delete and again download apup.zip), but the same error occurs.

create a folder for each operating system you wish to download

then just download one operating system at a time.
of course you will have to place the little program in each folder for each opperating system
cheers

Haven't seen any developer replies recently and no new versions. Is anything in progress? What happens when XP SP3 comes out next week? Seems like there'd be a flurry of activity around this right now, but nothing going on?

Perfect timing...fired up the craptop and it gave me that "Microsoft wants to slip new DRM into your system undetected" messages. (to paraphrase the ACTUAL meaning of the message, anyway... ;))

One of my past clients had actually modded his own computer so that it would show a message similar to that instead of launching autoupdate :D
