Here's a good read on .Net 4.5 - http://msdn.microsof...y/5a4x27ek.aspx - including a link to the .NET 4.5 full x86/x64 stand-alone redistributable.

... and this note,

Quote

The .NET Framework 4.5 replaces the .NET Framework 4. When you install the .NET Framework 4.5 on a system that has the .NET Framework 4 installed, the assemblies are replaced.

which might explain why 4.0 updates are no longer blue, and reticked for installation.

Presently I have .NET Framework 4.5.50709 installed (assuming I also have all the latest updates from Microsoft).

My guess is that the APMs for .NET Framework 4.0 items would/could be modified with a <= version 4.0.**** to preclude these items showing up in a Vista/Win7 installation that the user has upgraded to 4.5???

Is that a possibility? Because Win7 comes with .NET Framework installed by default and 3.5.1 an option I'm assuming this could be a major headache to determine.

For those of you that may have installed .NET 4.5 on your own. Please see http://www.microsoft...s.aspx?id=30653. The dust is still settling Posted Image

Note: The .NET Framework 4.5 redistributable was updated on 10/9/2012 to correct an issue related to an improper timestamp on a digital certificate which causes the digital signature on files produced and signed by Microsoft to expire prematurely. We recommend customers that previously installed the .NET 4.5 redistributable package dated 8/16/2012 install this updated .NET 4.5 redistributable package. More information about the issue can be found Microsoft Security Advisory 2749655.

If you have 4.5 installed, and if you downloaded the 21Nov dotNET Addons, AP should not be showing 4.0 entries.
What md5sums do you have for __dotnet40.apm and __dotnet45.apm?

Am in XP - downloading latest per above - wll report back when I have a chance to check both versions of Win7.

Win7 Ultimate 32bit w/SP1
AutoPatcher > Microsoft Windows - Updated Components
.Net Framework 3.5 and Family > 7 items all blue
.Net Framework 4.5 > 3 items all blue

Win7 Ultimate 64bit w/SP1
AutoPatcher > Microsoft Windows - Updated Components
.Net Framework 4.5 > 3 items all blue

.Net Framework 3.5 and Family > 7 items 6 blue 1 black
Security Update ... (KB2656411) did check to install - did not install.

Opened KB2656411-MSU35SP1-x64.apm file

Found:

[DetectionRegistry]
# Additional detection if hotfix installed
RegistryPath=HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Component Based Servicing\PackageIndex\Package_for_KB2661227~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~~0.0.0.0
KeyName=Package_for_KB2661227~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.2.0
KeyValue=0

[DetectionFile]
FilePath=windows:\system32\CatRoot\{F750E6C3-38EE-11D1-85E5-00C04FC295EE}
FileName=Package_for_KB2656411~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.0.cat
FileVersion=ANY
FileMD5=ANY

In [DetectionRegistry] I found KeyName=Package_for_KB2661227~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.2.0 but no KeyValue=0. Is KeyValue really required?

In [DetectionFile] I did not find Package_for_KB2656411~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.0.cat in the catroot folder.
No error message during install attempt from within AutoPatcher. Navigated to AutoPatcher folder and ran Windows6.1-KB2656411-x64.msu - got error message stating this update did not apply to this computer.

This is what I see in the registry for x86 (I do not have x64 to check. Please export the subject key below and post your results):
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Component Based Servicing\PackageIndex\Package_for_KB2661227~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~~0.0.0.0]
"Package_for_KB2661227~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~~6.1.2.0"=dword:00000000

The [DetectionFile] is there to satisfy normal installations. KB2661227 is a hotfix and replaces KB2656411. From the looks of it, you have the hotfix installed so KB2656411 should no longer be present and will not install if you try. KB2656411 is blue on my side and I also have the hotfix installed.

If you only have reg entries for Package_1_for_KB2661227.. that is the reason why detection is failing. You should have an entry like I posted: Package_for_KB2661227..

When you said is Keyvalue really required, the answer is Yes. If you remove it from the apm the detection will not work. Did you remove that entry from the apm?

Is your AP status 'Official'?

Is there some sort of problem with the .NET script? For some time now, I've been receiving this error message:
Permission denied in prjUpdater.mdlShellExecute.executeCommand at line 116

It shows that message repeatedly, but then proceeds to download everything correctly - producing an official release. This spoiler shows that I only attempted the x86 download, but I also tried to download the x64 version to it's own folder. The same error message popped up a couple of times, so I discontinued the download (it was over a gig in size).

I found a thread discussing this a while back at http://www.autopatch...updater-error/. I was just curious if any of those issues are still present with the new APUP, etc. I did try shutting down my antivirus (Avast), but I didn't try the read-only fix since it looked like it could also be caused by a problem with the script. Any help is appreciated.

prjUpdater.mdlShellExecute.executeCommand at line 116
Thats the line where it deletes the temp batch file it creates to run dos commands. Its really only a minor problem that has no effect on the operation of apup if you don't count the fact that it pops up an anoying dialog box.
I will look into it but, it would seem to me that its trying to delete the batch file while the batch file is still in progress. How long has this error been happening? Before the latest release of apup(it better be I didn't touch anything except the curl area)?

I honestly can't remember how long it's been happening, but it's been a while. I should have reported it as soon as it happened, but I never did because it was still creating an official release. It only occurs in the .NET folder, so it would seem that the new apup shouldn't be causing it.

It appears the problem that I was experiencing was due to my Comodo firewall. They just recently came out with a new version (6) that completely reset my settings. Since the upgrade, there is no longer any error message popping up when I'm attempting to update my .NET folder. Odd that this was the only folder with an issue, but everything looks to be fine here now.

odd indeed... well, glad the problem was fixed. I never did figure out why you were having those errors, other then what I said was possible.
