JRosenfeld's Photo JRosenfeld 20 Apr 2010

After updating I now have dotnet addonpack showing false in Autopatcher.

Mine too ... it's because the script is downloading the modules, but not the installation file for .net 4.

Module 'H:\Images\AutoPatcher\modules\Components\__dotnet\dotNetFx40_Full_x86_x64.apm' implicitly refers to its module folder as 'H:\Images\AutoPatcher\modules\Components\__dotnet\dotNetFx40_Full_x86_x64.apm_files'. However, such folder does not exist!
Module 'Microsoft .NET Framework 4 (x86 and x64) (Standalone Installer) ' (unique id: 'DOTNET4_gbl') reports 'DOTNET_PARENT' as its parent, but such module does not exist or is not loaded in the right order.

guys, just an head's up: there's one issue with __dotnet.apm . this one is an parent module and, due that, this one should not have an reference to any OS or even any language. but looking into it, i've found this:
[OperatingSystem]
WindowsVersion=NT4_SP6a,2K,XP,2K3,VISTA,LHSERVER

i'm looking into some possible updates in the .net package, so this one may stay like this for a few days, but those that wish run the updates that fits for seven from the .net package needs to replace WindowsVersion=NT4_SP6a,2K,XP,2K3,VISTA,LHSERVER by WindowsVersion=ANY. but don't worry, this issue will be fixed in a few days.

also, now i have an x64 capable machine and i'm also running an x64 OS. i'm not sure about the x64 updates for vista (i don't have this one to test), but the x64 updates for seven will be added as soon an list of the required updates be done, and that shall not take longer. the x64 updates will have his own script

I noticed the same thing, it looks to me that this update is more of an XP / Server 2003 update than a Net Framework update.

I clicked every link available and I keep winding up Here!

Additionally, it seems misleading but it looks like the update applies to both XP SP2 and XP SP3, you don't see this at the download page but from the 'KB' pages, listed under 'Prerequisites' you see the information.

yep, this one applies to xp sp2 and sp3. i've left the pre-reqs as xp (all versions), because another pre-req of this one already is to any (DotNetFramework=3.5SP1). if .net 3.5sp1 works for all xp, an update for this one surely will as well

also, the issue with __dotnet.apm is now fixed. so, users running seven also will be able to see .net 4 as an possible update.

due the issue with the download of KB976576, only KB977354 was added so far

Almost done, everything is good, hash, size, but the name of the .7z is incorrect. It needs to be -> windows_dotnet_20100625.7z

Full name: Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update for .NET versions 2.0 through 3.5 (KB951847) x86

And I ran APUP and AutoPatcher to make sure I did not miss something - the above item was not listed. B)

i may be wrong, but this one seems to be around at least since november 2008, despite the update himself doesn't have that full name. it is in the .net package, as .Net Framework 3.5 SP1, loading into XP,2K3,VISTA,LHSERVER

of course, i may be wrong, due an lack of sleep caused by an wind of 117,5 km/h (~73 miles/hour) that we had last night

You're correct about it being an old update. It just appeared here when I ran Microsoft Update yesterday so I assumed it was new. I clicked on install and it failed - so something else might be a problem.

So, for now I would not add it to AutoPatcher.

Sorry to hear about your hurricane force winds - we are having problems with wild fires. One was threatening a large group of homes in the desert west of me. The fire fighters called out the DC-10 and B-747 aircraft to aid in fighting the fires. The aircraft are stationed pretty close to where I live.
