yes, and i've downloaded both versions already. the md5 doesn't match with b5 and my attempt to find an direct link for it has failed. i will try a few more things before rest it. by the way: since java website us to be out of date, but yet this one is more suitable for some people, someone is against to keep the modules for u22 for those that wish keep downloading from java website?

The 6u23 version mentioned by Black Ghost is from the Oracle SDN (Sun Developer Network) and does not contain the google toolbar in the installer. The installer I previously mentioned contains the toolbar and most likely the reason for the md5 sum difference. jre-6u23-windows-i586.exe is without toolbar and jre-6u23-windows-i586-s.exe has the optional toolbar. The -s version will be available once the default download site is updated.

So, is JaveSE the same as JavaJRE now? 'SE' has been updated 'JRE' has not as far as I can see...? If you follow the Java links from Here!...

JavaSE points to v6u23 which is where post #133 also leads /// JavaJRE still points to v6u22

Also, we have had the 'toolbar' versus 'no toolbar' discussion before, if I remember it wasn't a consistant theory. Since it is easier for users to simply install Java on their own I'll wait and use the old link when it gets updated - seems the easiest thing to do.

may be my mistake, but the JRE link says this:
Java software for your computer, or the Java Runtime Environment, is also referred to as the Java Runtime, Runtime Environment, Runtime, JRE, Java Virtual Machine, Virtual Machine, Java VM, JVM, VM, or Java download.

while:
Java Platform, Standard Edition has an link stating that it has 2 versions: JDK and JRE. the JRE link goes to u23. if the first link says that is also JRE, both are the same, right? but it may be just me, a lot confused with the way that SUN/ORACLE etc names it...

for those that wish download from ORACLE, attached to this post yours will find java_jre_x64_u23.zip and java_jre_u23.zip. if you wish use those instead the version that can be downloaded from java.com, please remove the old files first, then browse to this link, choose download JRE, select your platform (windows, for the x86 version and/or windows x64 for the x64 version). don't forget to check "i agree" and then choose jre-6u23-windows-i586.exe for the x86 version and jre-6u23-windows-x64.exe for the x64 version

all the executables shall be saved into modules\AddOns\SunJava_x86_files

don't forget: if you mix old versions with the current one, your release will turn into unofficial

java_jre_u23.zip
java_jre_x64_u23.zip

just an warning: the standard download site is still java.com. the modules for those that download from ORACLE is just an convenience, nothing more than that

I keep getting:

UNOFFICIAL: File 'Z:\Autopatcher\modules\AddOns\SunJava_x86_files\jre-6u23-windows-i586.exe' (mentioned by RTI 'C:\#AutoPatcher_Temp#\java_jre.rti') md5 mismatch!

Since this is now no longer automated, I may have goofed it. I assume md5_checksum_for_Java_Addon_Pack.md5
is no longer relevant since it is still based on 6u18. Is that correct?

Otherwise, from which module was the md5sum created and where can I see what is being used?

This is what I am using: 793e0b43db05fde960da97ce3347bbae *jre-6u23-windows-i586.exe (downloaded from Oracle SDN)

Thanks

ok, issue found. i have 187A70F669DC7B97CC294212D502961E as md5 for jre-6u23-windows-i586.exe and 0EE8896514E3F1C33F149FE42580A05B as md5 for jre-6u23-windows-x64.exe. so, possibilities: broken download or file updated. i will do an download test and check it again

edit: download test done, with another browser (to avoid issues with local cache). both md5 matches. so, possible issues: broken download or broken mirror. only one solution to that that i know: try again

thanks

The official release of 6u23 is now on the manual download site for Java. I was wrong about the build - this one has a version of 6.0.230.70. Although the SDN version is still 6.0.230.5

yep. the sad part is that the standard download link leads you to the -s version (aka toolbar). link for the version without that:
u23 x86

about the x64 version, i have no idea about the link, because despite java.com say that there's an link that you don't need verify the browser, it checks it anyway and right now, i'm under x86. so, tonight i will update it
