Java Runtime Environment (JRE) Addon Pack

ViroMan's Photo ViroMan 06 Dec 2012

Will have java ready again soon-ish. You will only be able to download with apup 1.4 though. So if you don't have it... you won't see it.

OK Java updated and signed and now showing. AGAIN if you can't see it on the list you have not updated to the latest apup which is 1.4

OK with Apup2 as well, but I had to remove manually old version of java (jre-7u3-windows-i586.exe) that was in the Java_Files folder, to make Autopatcher official.

As if I could do anything. WAC send them to Domenico and see if you can get his attention. My connection to autopatcher server is royally screwed somewhere along the line. Its hard to even get web pages. Doing anything with any other server or place is fine... its just between me and autopatcher site

From what I've read in other places this new version is not really a 'fix' but is a patch to paper over the security problems while Oracle works on a better solution; others are saying not to install this one either - so be aware.

can you give sources DJ? I would like to read more about that.

Ok so after doing some searching I found a few reports that say the same thing.

Says that the security flaw is so huge that it would probably take them a year to fix it. It must be something fundamentally wrong with java for them to have to rewrite the whole damn thing.

I guess everyone could go back to Java 6 update 38 OR Java 8 beta: http://jdk8.java.net/download.html

I know AutoPatcher does not support beta but, in this case I am offerng it as a possible solution. I've been running it on both of my systems with XP and Win7 and have not had any problems.

Although... the detections don't work for win 7. At least not for me. :( They changed the way things work in the latest patch.

But 8 is in beta still so they can get a fix in for it. They just need to update 6 and 7 for the bug. they still say the it is still there as we know.

That's... just saddening.

Read the geek link's article - I would think Java should be listed in AutoPatcher but a security warning included stating it should not be downloaded/installed until Oracle provides a definite fix unless the user really needs it. The warning would absolve AutPatcher from blame if a user has problems and they try to place blame.
