adobe doesn't give it. i know, several sites host it, but they may have an agreement with adobe that we don't. but no problem, will take some time, but this issue will be bypassed

Wow, so Adobe owns Java now too. I'm sorry, it looks as if Java will be another separate download for users unless Sun, Adobe,
whoever, provide a usable direct link :(

my mistake. they don't. but java was about to be sold, i don't remember if this is already done or not. but java.com restrict the downloads even to certain countries and don't have an redistribute agreement (at least, i didn't found one). for sure, i don't wish receive an letter from their lawyers claiming that US law applies despite i don't be in US, bla bla bla.

at least adobe think that it's better more people running their software. java, don't. but our developers are already aware of the issue. only one problem: they are too busy right now to fix it at once

the ticket is this crap:

I:\curl>curl -I "http://sdlc-esd.sun.com/ESD6/JSCDL/jdk/6u19-b04/jre-6u19-windows-i586-s.exe?AuthParam=1270016787_acd9dfc931bfab69cfb08cb4a3e19cf8&GroupName=JSC&FilePath=/ESD6/JSCDL/jdk/6u19-b04/jre-6u19-windows-i586-s.exe&File=jre-6u19-windows-i586-s.exe&BHost=javadl.sun.com"

HTTP/1.1 200 OK

in this case, the download link has an expiration date, making the download link useless for apup. that may be bypassed updating apup again, but this may be tricky to do and will require some time to test. until that, the best thing that we can do is remove the download from the java release and release only the apm file, signed as should be for each new version

issue: my IC at home is with an odd behavior: it's slower than dial-up (i'm not joking. toke almost 3h just to do an download test for the new updates for xp enu). well, at least it's still working... i just hope that this be solved soon (they say that it's related to an bridge that has fall some time ago, but i'm unsure about it)

Why was my post deleted? I posted the file information for the latest JAVA (was post 87) and made a comment about
the -L switch and it is deleted - what's going on here? This is a little troublesome, 3rd time this happened, it surely can't
be for bad language - there was none.

I can't for the life of me think how anything I said in the post was in the least cause for a deletion - especially compared to
the rant the guy in the other post the other day offered, it was left, available for all to read, and yet I have zero clue what in
the world caused a mod to delete my post about Java file details and a mention of the -L switch in cURL.

I have better things to do so please man up and ask me to go away and I will without a mention but please don't delete my
posts and not at least offer some explanation. In fact if you want to just delete my account right now - this is very insulting
to say the least. Seriously, I'm not mad, just very puzzled, just delete my account and I will be gone - no more games,
whoever is doing this is ridiculous to say the least.

Please, do us both a favor - delete my account now, I would but I don't see how - I will keep looking.

:blink: what post? i've searched into the trash and the last post that is in thee is mine, from the last month updates, in the ptb release topic (i always remove the old one). i can send to you an image of that, if you wish

> a mention of the -L switch in cURL
surely, i didn't saw that. this i should remember

> Please, do us both a favor - delete my account now

But then you say in the same post this...

This is confusing, in the same post you say you Did and Did Not read my post about the -L switch.

Anyway, no hard feelings from me, but please, just let whoever know I would like my account removed if possible.

sorry. bad translation from a guy that is falling asleep since several hours ago. i didn't saw that post. i remember about the "again" and jerry's post. only that

> I would like my account removed if possible
that requires login to the administration area. right now, only frank and ... (i've forgot) can reach that area. right now, we can:
- remove posting ability from some time or forever;
- set post moderation to someone;
- ban

So what's the verdict on just supplying the javajre_x86.apm file with the latest j6U20 entry for Java and forget about being able
to download it until a solution is found?

I vote to just update the .apm

I'm not sure what happens in AP if you select to install and the file is not there though.

only 2 things will happen:
1 - autopatcher will turns into unofficial;
2 - the module will not install

about this issue, we are thinking about update apup and autopatcher to fix this issue and another one that arrives with .net 4 once for all, but first we are digging into the forums looking for old and unfixed bugs. due our limited time to dig, this is taking longer than expected, but so far the most usual forums where issues are reported are already reviewed. it's missing the entire xp and vista forums yet. basically, it's still missing the same forums than last week, because i'm kinda overloaded at my job and i'm collapsing due that. oh yes, i've got an flu too and i'm allergic to a lot of things. so, imagine the picture :(

Would anything speak against adding an OR registry detection for the newer Java Version?
That way the j6u18 entry would still show blue for those users that have a later version installed.

I added and tested the following:

javajre_x86.apm (in Addons) added OR registry detection
RegistryPath=HKLM\SOFTWARE\JavaSoft\Java Runtime Environment\1.6.0_20\MSI
KeyName=PRODUCTVERSION
KeyValue=6.0.200

well, it's possible release the modules (i have booth x86 and x64), but java can't be added, because sun has enforced their ticket-based system and apup can't handle it. the same thing happens with some updates for network monitor (that was updated to v3.4, but it's being tested yet). to this last one, 1 update (that has versions in x86 and x64) has an download link from codeplex, that doesn't work as well

by the way, none of the java installers worked in my 7 pro x64. installing it with admin rights didn't helped, i always got an problem related to windows installer. but deploying it through autopatcher, it worked. sadly, the same thing didn't worked with openoffice, but i'm looking for an solution yet. at least, in the worst case scenario, i do have an license for office 2k7 (that if ms honor their word, will receive an free update to 2k10 next month or so)

as an alternative to the java download issue, i've attacked to the first post the required files to jre work with autopatcher. if the instructions given be followed, autopatcher shall stay as official. i've added booth x86 and x64 versions

by the way, an fix for the windows installer issue under seven can be found in here

and no, i'm not running any beta version, nor pirated or something not genuine. just an hint: run the cmd file as administrator, then reboot.
Spoiler

at least for me, it just worked disabling Windows Customer Experience Improvement Program as well.
