edit: in fact, nor the old command line ( /Q:A /R:N /c:"WGANOT~1.EXE /quiet /norestart ) nor the one that i was choosing ( /quiet /norestart ) works. someone already has found an silent install for this one that works?

since wga exists, there's an silent mode for that one. until a few days ago, it was working. probably we will have to find the way that ms has hidden...

- you need to extract the content of this update (7za can do it easily);
- in the extracted files, you will find wganotifypackageinner.exe. this one also needs to be extracted;
- remove the not needed files and keep only those that was extracted from wganotifypackageinner.exe;
- then, you can install it with KB905474\update\update.exe /passive /norestart
issue: doing this way, it works only by half. only by half, because it works to validate your windows in here , but windows update will show this one also required and will download it anyway. because of that, i believe that it's better keep it like it is right now, at least until we find an proper way to do it

APF files are updated:
Microsoft Update
FileVersion=>7.2.6001.788
The version I have for muweb.dll is ( 7.4.7600.226 )
Also, the AP files for this one look outdated. I'm not sure where these
files came from though and don't have a suggestion where to get a newer
replacement.
Remove windows Messenger 4.7
I'm not sure if anything can be done about this one. There are no detection
entries which means it will always be black, even after it has been
uninstalled. Actually it should no longer show up in the list after removal,
but I not sure if this is possible. I guess this would be true for all Remove
type entries.
Ciao..

where you found this version? the one that we are downloading is older than that

in fact, i think that remove this one is a mistake. a lot of times that wlm is broken, you may fix this one just by updating this one to v 5.1

I used IE and went to Windows update and let it install the activeX control to use Microsoft update. On the right-hand side of the page, there are two boxes. The top one addresses whether you have Automatic Updates turned on. The second box is present if you do not have the activeX control for MU and says "News" -- currently, it says "Upgrade to Microsoft Update. Automatically receive updates for Windows, Office and more".
Once you've used Microsoft Update once, you will have a new "Microsoft Update" selection on your "All Programs" menu, just beneath the current Windows Update item.
I don't want or need Windows Messenger. I thought this was a way to remove it. Is the Remove Windows Messenger selection always present?
