I was just wondering that if someone downloads the latest SP3, does it have everything in it that M$ has put out in all of their updates, upto this point and time? I am asking because I don't know how this works.

Hi Dakota and welcome to the AutoPatcher forums.

Windows XP SP3 certainly contains all Security Updates and all Hotfixes put out by Microsoft up to about April 2008. April 2008 is the date when SP3 was finalised, just before it was publicly released.

If you want to know all the details see the Microsoft KB article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/946480/ "List of fixes that are included in Windows XP Service Pack 3".

After that, AutoPatcher downloads all Security Updates and Recommended updates for a computer that already has Microsoft's SP3 installed.

I guess I didn't make myself clear. I appreciate your fast reply James, thank you. What I meant is, I am going to build a new computer and don't want to spend the time online to download all of the updates and service packs from M$. So I was wondering if the SP3 Autopatcher has all of the previous updates including the newer ones in it, so I can just pop that in without going online to update everything?

SP3 Autopatcher has all the updates that come after windows xp sp3. so, if you don't have windows xp sp3, you will miss a lot of things. if you don't have sp3 installed, then you need install it first and then run autopatcher sp3

Thanks, that is what I wanted to know. Also will there be any updates once M$ has stopped their support?
