Win2k script: 2 weeks notice

Posted by Cristiano on December 19th, 2009 | Comments Off

hello all

sorry guys, but here goes another script. as your may have already noticed, the Win2k script is without maintenance since several months ago (there’s even an warning about that in the scripts selection window, from apup). in this time, we was looking for someone to keep this script running. so far, no luck. we could keep this one as is, but MS is still replacing updates for this one and several updates are already broken. worst: some still are alive, but the detections doesn’t work anymore, because the update himself was updated and the old detection is no longer valid.

we can’t keep all the scripts running fine with just a few people updating the scripts (yes, that means that we need you). with lack of people, we must hold our efforts to the most popular scripts. and the Win2k script is already breaking the XP and Vista scripts, because a lot of people mix all the scripts in a single folder. that isn’t a real problem (except that the scripts aren’t updated all in the same day and this may lead to certain issues), but right now this has become an real problem: as the users are unable to download the entire script due broken links, the release becomes unofficial and this means that we can’t grant to the user that the files that he downloaded are 100% ok. and this is an problem.

so, in about 2 weeks, the Win2K script will be taken offline. this may be reversed, with the help of volunteers. if someone wishes work on this script, please state that at our foruns

My friends, i’m proud to announce that reached one major milestone about AutoPatcher Updater: our download mechanism was completely replaced by cURL. Yes, we are not joking, APUP has now the ability to deal with proxies, including those that require authentication. Even more, now you have the ability and the control to do an autorun feature: if you wish, apup can remember your script selections and download those script without any question. Also we already said, there’s an serious job being done and I believe that yours will like it :)

As for those that are downloading apup for the first time, the new version can be reached in our downloads page

My friends, i’m proud to announce that we have an new version for AutoPatcher Updater. Mostly, this version fixes an issue that Kaspersky 2010 users was having when running apup. Now, thanks to help from our friends from Kaspersky, this issue is now solved. But this isn’t the only one thing that has changed. The screen view was improved, by adding resizable window + fix for wrong ‘Date’ field displaying in ListView control. Still there’s more to come. Stay tunned to see what comes next :)

x64 scripts

Posted by Cristiano on July 2nd, 2009 | Comments Off

Attn: AutoPatcher Community.

AutoPatcher no longer will offer support or discussion about any 64-bit (x64) OS at any service pack level. We
attempted to locate a release maintainer but could not get a commitment – no problem, so we must focus on the
projects at hand – 32-bit (x86) OSes etc. We at AutoPatcher hope you understand that without both the hardware and software to test 64-bit releases it is impossible to develop a stable product.

If you wish that this project stay online, please give us your feedback about any release that you have some use for. If you think that you can hold some scripts, great. Join the forum and talk with us.

Just an remind: after the milk hit the floor, doesn’t help a bit cry about it. But before the milk hit the floor, you may do a lot of things to save it from your cat.
