Windows Vista Separated/Server 2008 Compatibility

Posted by Erik Ramey on June 20th, 2008 | Comments Off

In order to offer more choices and a smaller download, the Vista SP1 release was separated into two releases: X86 and X64 packs. Additionally since Vista SP1 shares the same core as Server 2008, compatibility for Server 2008 has been added to both the X86 and X64 releases.

Note: Downloading the X86 release will not remove X64 releases and vice-versa. In order to remove any un-wanted updates, you will need to delete the module folder and re-download all releases.

Windows XP SP2 Re-Released Temporarily

Posted by Erik Ramey on May 14th, 2008 | Comments Off

Update – Reminder: Windows XP SP2 English release will be removed in one week has been removed.

Today I have worked on a re-packaged version of the AutoPatcher for XP SP2 which should account for all updates post SP2 to current. I believe that there previously was no warning about the SP3 release deleting all SP2 superseded updates which prompted this release.

That being said, this pack will only be up until next patch Tuesday June 10th. I love working on AutoPatcher but please understand that I continuously update and maintain thirteen release packs with possibly more on the way in the future. Having two releases for XP will make updating and troubleshooting issues that much more taxing on myself. If you disagree, then I’m sorry.

Please note that if you download the SP2 release, DO NOT download the SP3 release.

Updates Replaced by XP SP3 Removed

Posted by Erik Ramey on May 8th, 2008 | Comments Off

As of today when you update your Windows XP release via APUP, all updates replaced by SP3 will be removed. Additionally the Windows 2000 and 2003 (x86) releases have been updated in order to support the SP3 transition and will need to be updated if used in conjunction wiith the XP release.

Math 101:

Before SP3 – AP XP total download size = 302MiB

After SP3 – AP XP total download size = 145MiB

Ain’t math grand?
